So to be clear. We are not talking about HAM that comes in a can.
I am referring to the 90% of email you will receive that has absolutely nothing to do with anything you are interested in. Okay, there are really three types of email:
Legitimate: Email from people you know and expect to receive.
Subscribed: Email that at some point you gave permission to send to you (even accidentally)
SPAM: Email that you receive that is sent to you without your permission*
*Most countries have laws that require you to consent to receive email. However, consent may be tied up in an existing commercial relationship you already have, or something as simple as entering a competition. Email is one of the oldest applications on the internet, but it is also becoming one of the most sophisticated. Quite a few strategies exist now to help clean up your INBOX. Lately, our support group has noticed a sharp increase in the number of undeliverable (legitimate) emails to large email providers like Bigpond, Outlook.com and Gmail. when we investigate these issues we find that many clients have old configurations that don't make use of current email security strategies. While they are not mandatory many of the big email providers are treating them as such and therefore legitimate email is being affected, and often sent to Junk Mail folders, or even silently discarded (outlook.com). You should test the SPAM health of your email by going to https://www.mail-tester.com. Retrieve the test mail and send an email to it from your email client. Return to the webpage and click to see the health of your sent email. Use the guidelines to determine what strategies need to be enabled. You should enable the following strategies in your CPANEL account:
All of these strategies can be enabled via your CPANEL access. Hosting Australia has prepared several articles that detail how to set up each strategy via CPANEL. Please click on each of the strategies above and follow the instructions in your CPANEL. Once these strategies are enabled you can test the SPAM health of your email by going to https://www.mail-tester.com. Retrieve the test mail and send an email to it from your email client. Return to the webpage and click to see the health of your sent email. If you would prefer someone professional to make these changes for you the Hosting Australia support team can perform this on your account for a small administration fee. Contact Support.
